Purejunk returns with an album full of unusual sounds and quirky moods. Once again, this musical chameleon sets out on a completely different path from his usual with his new ‘Class Acts’ release, made out of a selection of reworkings of classic compositions from composers such as Camille Saint-Saens, Erik Satie, Gabriel Fauré, Edvard Grieg, etc. An unusual sonic mix of the traditional with downtempo and electronic ambient which aims to draw in those unfamiliar with these century-old classical works. For those who want to discover some classical tunes with a twist, Class Acts is now finally available!

Revisited 1993-2001: a collection of unreleased tracks recorded between 1993 and 2001 by Avalon a.k.a. Purejunk, then signed to leading Brussels indie label Crammed Discs (SSR Records, Freezone).
These raw unprocessed tracks have been lifted straight from DAT tape in an effort to bring back to life the sound that was Avalon. Once described in VOX Magazine as “the ideal marriage of fuck-off BPMs with Ambient… it is rich Trance City Techno with chillingly perfect vocal lines and thorough dance beats… strong elements of House through the ages are sweetly re-defined in these bold sounds… verging on the edge of pop, here’s one whizz kid completely at ease with his grooves”, the Avalon sound still resonates in today’s cluttered electronic music scene.
Admittedly, most of these recordings were never meant to be released and have a distinct demo quality about them: recording techniques were much more basic as they are nowadays, and sounds and styles have evolved, however, these tunes still have the merit of being revisited even if at the least in an exercise to document the recording history and evolution of the artist.
Released on our sister label PJ MASTERING.
Purejunk’s reworking of Saint-Saens’ Le Carnaval des Animaux – Aquarium – Mouvement No. 7. A wicked fused-up electro version of this classical masterpiece by Saint-Saens from the 1880s. The single is a taster of the Purejunk “Class Acts” album full of classical mashups which will be released in September 2015.
Out on December 16, 2013, Alternatives by Purejunk, a collection of sixteen reworked tracks primarily taken from his albums Rites Of Passage and Lifeline. Originally part of the Groupees Deep Beats bundle, these tracks were especially reworked/remixed/remastered as a bonus for the campaign, which saw the likes of Howie B, Blue Foundation, Hol Baumann and Devyn DeLoera take part.
Electro synth pop straight from the 80’s. Gotta love the new sound!
